Allen Mill is a very comfortable, cosy stone terraced cottage with a relaxed "home from home" atmosphere. It is decorated and equipped to a very high standard, offering all we imagine you might need to enjoy your holiday.
The cottage lies within the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Beauty close to the East Allen River. Walk or cycle from the doorstep through a marvellous mix of moor and dale which makes up "England's Last Wilderness". We provide guide books and a secure cycle shed. On lazier days you can breakfast in the small front garden and then cross the road to the large garden which has a unique, modern summerhouse. Here you can sit and read overlooking the pond and landscaped garden. After barbecue lunch you may like to try croquet on the lawn.
Allendale village offers several pubs where you can sample real ale and live music. The friendly, well-stocked Co-op caters for most requirements and will deliver. There's also a post office, chemist, tea rooms and a gift shop.
Locally there is a wealth of industrial and Roman archaeology including Killhope's lead mining centre and the World Heritage site of the Roman Wall.
All fuel and linen and cleaning materials are included and there's and array of CDs, DVD's and games for the evening or Satellite TV . We guarantee you a warm welcome and will ensure that the central heating is on and the wood-burning stove is laid ready for your arrival.
