Bellingham - The Essence of Northumberland -
Base yourself at our campsite to discover the true spirit of Northumberland. Walk with the Romans, ride with the Reivers, relax in the warmth of the Northumbrian way. We hope you enjoy our award winning Site in the Northumberland National Park. Just to the east is the stunning Northumberland coast.
Our site was voted in the Top 100 best sites in Britain by readers of Practical Caravan in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and in the Top 50 sites by readers of Practical Motorhome in 2010 and 2011. We have been awarded 5 Stars by Visit England and hold 5 Pennants from the AA.
For Actvity - You can stroll from site to the spectacular 30ft waterfall at Hareshaw Linn or fish the River North Tyne for salmon and trout. You can walk the Pennine Way, canoe on the river, just 10 minutes from site, mountain bike or walk the 27-mile shoreline of the Kielder Water and Forest Park, with its forest art and visitor centres. Take a packed lunch and cycle from site to Dally Castle. Walk the tree tops at Go-Ape, Maften just half an hour's drive away.
For History - Visit Hadrian's Wall, a World Heritage Site, with over half a dozen visitor centres to choose from. Leave the car and catch the bus along the Wall. Get a little Harry Potter magic at Alnwick Castle and see its famous contemporary Gardens. Call in at the National Trust properties of Cragside (the first house to have hydroelectricity) and the mansion and gardens of Wallington. Try a day in Hexham with its Abbey dating back to 674 and England's first purpose built jail. Discover Bellingham's industrial history and violent past at the Bellingham Heritage Centre.
For Wildlife - Start the season with the arrival of swallows and finish with the migration of the wild salmon. Sit back on the site and watch soaring Buzzards; listen to the call of the Curlews and keep a eye out for Roe Deer on the fell. Drive carefully, Northumberland is home to 75% of England's Red Squirel population. After a gap of 200 years, Kielder Forest is now the summer home for breeding Ospreys.
For Shopping - Bellingham is a traditional village with a selection of small shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. The Angel of the North marks the entrance to Gateshead and one of Europe's largest shopping centres. Newcastle is readily accessible by public transport, including a park and ride.
