Like the city itself, The County Hotel in Newcastle City Centre is a fascinating mix of the old and new, perfect for business or leisure travellers. Directly opposite the railway station, it’s a Victorian Listed building, which has been sympathetically restored and brought right up to date.
Newcastle has emerged as one of Britain’s favourite cultural, shopping and short break destinations. The County Hotel has 114 bedrooms, including 18 Premier Executive rooms, and seven meeting rooms all offering natural light and air conditioning, the largest seating 180 people theatre-style. The County is one of the few hotels in Newcastle directly opposite train station, so it’s easy to get here, and with its authentic Victorian features, the hotel is a very popular city-centre wedding venue.
As a guest at The County Hotel you have free access to the nearby Body Zone fitness centre: perfect for working off any energy you’ve got left over after shopping or exploring the city's many museums and art galleries, such as the Laing Art Gallery. The hotel's central location is also handy for St James’ Park (Sports Direct Arena) if you’re coming to watch Newcastle United FC – known to fans and the locals simply as ‘The Toon’. The adjacent Metro and bus links service the magnificent North East Coast, Metrocentre shopping and leisure complex and Newcastle International Airport, making travelling convenient and easy.
The County Hotel, Newcastle at a glance:
• Authentic Victorian grandeur, right in the centre of Newcastle
• 114 bedrooms, plus seven function rooms
• Directly opposite Newcastle railway and Metro stations
The County Hotel's Rendez Vous restaurant offers an informal dining experience in a contemporary setting. Guests can watch chefs prepare a range of British and European cuisine in the theatre style kitchen and enjoy the extensive cellar of classic and New World wines.
Bookings are requested but not essential. Non hotel residents are welcome.
The Rendez Vous bar is a bustling city bar which can be accessed through the hotel or directly from Grainger Street. Its three large LCD TVs make it a very popular and atmospheric place to view the latest sports fixtures. A large range of spirits, draught and bottled beers, international wines and exotic cocktails are available. If you fancy a bite to eat, you can enjoy an extensive lounge menu available throughout the day and early evening offering light snacks and traditional favourites.
