• Film or TV location - We've appeared in the film Feuer und Schwert im Sudan / Slatin Pasha by Fisher films of Vienna. Slatin Pasha's grandsons came to stay and were filmed here, reminiscing.
• In countryside - We are surrounded by fields with horses, sheep and cattle, yet just 5 minutes from Crook with superb views towards the North Pennines

Catering

• Cater for vegetarians - As long as we know in advance, we are happy to cater for most dietary requirements - just ask (our Linda McCartney veggie sausages are excellent)
• Serve breakfast - With a wide variety of breakfast dishes to choose from there will be something to suit everyone. Orange juice, a choice of cereals, a selection of seasonal fruit and a variety of yoghurts are on the table so just help yourself. Then try our traditional English Breakfast with excellent sausages, bacon and eggs sourced from local farms, as well as fresh local mushrooms and tomatoes (our own, when in season). Baked beans, delicious Irish potato bread, black pudding and/or hash browns are also available. Or for a change, try some scrambled eggs with a little smoked salmon, kippers, or poached eggs on toast, a bacon or sausage sandwich, or a bowl of piping hot porridge.

• Marketed as green/environmentally friendly - We have a Gold Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme, and seek to help our guests enjoy local produce and to visit other Green-rated attractions in the area. We recycle like mad and hope our guests will want to as well.
• Marketed to any other specialist market - We are particularly popular with parents of students at Durham University. We also offer a very warm welcome to those wishing to visit friends and family in the area; lots of people come here for this and find it very convenient. House hunters find us conveniently central for County Durham
• Special provisions for cyclists - In an area attractive to cyclists. Can offer secure inside location for cycles overnight.
