Fern Cottage

This cosy little cottage provides the ideal hideaway. Located on a working farm in the peaceful hamlet of Thorngrafton, it lies in an elevated position on the north side of the South Tyne valley half a mile from the village of Bardon Mill and close to Hadrian's Wall and the Northumberland National Park. The Roman fort of Vindolanda is within easy walking distance and the various places of interest on the Roman Wall such as Housesteads and Chesters are all within a few minutes drive. There are numerous footpaths and bridleways for those wishing to explore the Wall on foot. Hexham with its medieaval abbey is 11 miles east and Tyneside a further 20 miles. To the north Kielder Water offers excellent leisure facilities whilst at nearby Aln Banks there is superb walking in National Trust woodland at the confluence of the rivers Allen and South Tyne. The wild and remote North Pennines are within easy reach.
