Greycroft is set in the peaceful village of Christon Bank, ideally situated for a perfect holiday in Northumberland. The cottage is a five minute drive from the charming small fishing village of Craster with its small harbour and infamous Craster Kippers. From Craster there is a magnificent walk along the basaltic cliff tops to the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle. The Castle is the largest in Northumberland was built by Thomas of Lancaster. Once at the Castle you will find spectacular views from the tower top along the coast. Dunstanburgh also is home to the fabulous Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course, offering a classic links variety taking in holes that are in close proximity of the sweeping bay.
Alnwick, a market town is approx 7 miles from Greycroft, where you will find the magnificent Alnwick Castle, the famous film location of Hogwarts school in the Harry Potter movies. There's so much to explore at The Alnwick Garden, and this spring, there's a new Cherry Orchard; the largest of its kind in the country. More than 300 Great White Cherry trees will blossom for the very first time, creating wonderful clouds of blossom that then fall to create drifts on the ground. There are also acres of fascinating plants, water sculptures and the infamous Poison Garden, not to mention one of the world's largest wooden tree houses.
Alternatively 8 miles north you will find the delightful seaside village of Seahouses where you can walk along the long sandy beaches of St Aidans and the harbour with its brightly painted boats that will take you out to the Farne Islands with its wonderful bird and seal sanctuary. Along with yet another stunning 18 hole golf course that boasts the most prestigious par 3s in the north of England, with its views over the magnificent coastline. Take the quiet winding roads to the rolling hills of the Cheviots just 20 minutes away. The whole area lies within an officially designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you prefer we can organise a horse ride along the beaches or a gentle hack along the country lanes. Seahouses has an abundance of restaurants and pubs, offering everything from Homemade food to the newly opened Indian Restaurant. There are also takeaways offering some of the best fish and chips, along with a Chinese, pizza and Indian takeaway.
