Crowned by the elegant tracery of Gisborough Priory, the historic market town of Guisborough is listed in the Domesday Book.
The priory was founded in 1119AD by Robert De Brus, and soon became one of the most powerful in the area, ensuring the prosperity of the town during the middle ages.
Nowadays it is filled with hidden gems to delight the visitor, notably the traditional markets which have taken place along the cobbled streets for over 600 years.
Originally selling cattle and other livestock, the markets have evolved into a colourful hubbub of fruit, vegetable and flower stalls.
