Jesmond Dene House

A smart, leafy boutique quarter just ten minutes’ walk from Newcastle city centre, Jesmond is renowned for its attentive designer stores and sophisticated cafés and restaurants.

The suburb is flanked by the beautiful Jesmond Dene, a wooded valley and Victorian park perfect for delightful short walks or relaxing with friends. Many tree-lined paths run through the valley, leading past interesting landmarks such as the Eye Bridge and its picturesque weir.

Jesmond Dene is spanned by the Armstrong Bridge, which plays host to an artists’ market every Sunday.

Nestled in a tranquil setting in the valley is the prestigious Jesmond Dene House. The historic Arts and Crafts building has been lovingly updated with sleek, spacious bedrooms and seriously good food – try the Market Menu for fresh, seasonal produce or indulge in afternoon tea with champagne.

Jesmond’s Osborne Road is home to a wide choice of hotels noted for their friendly service and congenial atmospheres. Its fashionable bars are very popular with a sophisticated, sociable crowd that tends to congregate on the heated terraces as these are the places to be seen.

West Jesmond, with its bijou boutiques, character-packed cafés and restaurants, is like a mini Notting Hill. Wooly Blue on Brentwood Avenue is just the place for gorgeous gifts and Stewart & Co Fine Food sells mouthwatering local cheeses, Chain Bridge honey and artisan bread to take home as well as running a relaxed café renowned for its homemade quiches and cakes.
