Falstone Barns is set in the delightful village of Falstone below Kielder Water and overlooking the beautiful North Tyne River, which boasts the finest salmon fishing in England.

These newly converted 200 year old barns provide luxurious holiday accommodation of outstanding quality, overlook a cobbled courtyard sits in 38 acres of private estate, overlooking the North Tyne river. (Best for Salmon in England).

We offer private fishing, shooting, walking and water-sports at nearby Kielder Water; also cycling opportunities, pamper breaks and tailor made stays for that special celebration and corporate entertaining.

When you arrive, you will experience a personal service and relaxed atmosphere second to none. Themed apartments offer classic opulence, French Bourgeois, Versace Glamour and romantic medieval delights. Falstone Barns truly is your place in the country.

Falstone Barns is in an ideal central location, enabling access to some of the North East's most spectacular visitor destinations. Exploring the Coast as well as rural destinations can be done with ease. Edinburgh is only 1hr and 30 minutes away and so Falstone Barns is ideally placed for a 2 centre break.

The Farm and Farmhouse where the Barns are sited, are ancient and of special historical interest. A 13th Century Cross was found in the walls of the Walled Garden and the Bastle House which forms part of the farmhouse is the only date-stoned privately owned Bastle in the heart of Northumberland's National Park; and an area of 'outstanding' natural beauty.

Falstone Bastle, Farm and Farmhouse will be of enormous historical and geneological interest to all those interested in the Reiver trail and it's 'Bloody' tales.

Road Directions

A1 (from South and north) then A69, A68 (signs to Kielder Water) A687 to Bellingham then Falstone on the C200. On entering Falstone over the bridge, pass the Blackcock Inn on the right. Falstone Barns are located on the right, down the farm lane and before the railway bridge.

Public Transport Directions

Hexham station (train and bus) - 28 miles away. Transfer by bus from the Bus station to Bellingham. Post bus then available for transfer to Falstone. Newcastle airport A69, A68, A687, C200.

  • Castle - Falstone Farm houses the site of the original castle. The Farm being situated on the ancient Drovers road from Scotland into England. Falstone Farm has always been a central focus and there has always been a house of importance here. The remains of the castle site exist to this day.

  • Film or TV location - Falstone Farmhouse was the subject of one of John Grundy's (An historian of local renoun), programme on stone. Falstone Farm bastle has 6ft thick walls, designed to keep out the invading Scots.
  • In countryside - Falstone Barns and farm overlook acres of unspoilt meadow and woodland, banked by the North Tyne river in an area of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' on the edge of Northumberland National Park.
  • Of historic, literary or architectural interest - 17thC Bastle house of special architectural interest. Site of a castle on the riever trail. Falstone Bastle houses the only inhabited date stone in the National Park.

Children & Infants

  • Accept children (Minimum age) - Children are more than welcome at Falstone Barns. Indeed we regard them as special visitors. There is no minimum age restriction.
  • Childrens Play Area - Children have a specially dedicated play area called, 'Little-Ones'. Safe and developmental play is the emphasis in this area. In addition to this, children are invited to explore the area around the 'Elephant tree'. The courtyard represents a safe haven for children where they may play under watchful eye of parents. The farm is a working and as such children may observe farming activity close-hand but under strict parental supervision.

  • Facilities for children - Facilities for children fall way above the 'norm' at Falstone Barns. We provide a baby bath seat, toilet seat for 'little-bottoms', step for 'little-legs', high chair, room to store a push chair, kids cutlery.
