Tees Valley Prepare yourself for a day at the coast, a day in the country and a day at the shops, as well as tales of smugglers, explorers and wild adventure!
Tees Valley is steeped in maritime history, master seafarer Captain James Cook was born in Middlesbrough in 1728. You can learn about his adventures at his birthplace museum in Stewart Park, and visit a full-size replica of HM Bark Endeavour - the ship in which he sailed the South Seas - at nearby Stockton.
Enjoy long walks over the sweeping hills of Roseberry Topping and the Cleveland Hills or the soaring Boulby Cliffs, which rise almost 700 feet, the highest on England's East Coast. Or try something new and feel the adrenalin rush while white water rafting at Teesside White Water Course or try to catch the perfect wave, surfing at Saltburn-by-the-Sea.
If the choice of activities is not enough to keep you busy, then there is also a year-round programme of events and experiences for all ages and interests. From world-class street arts to international events such as the Tall Ships' coming to Hartlepool in 2010, it's happening in Tees Valley.
