Established for over 30 years and now located within the stunning Gala Theatre building, visitors cannot fail to be impressed by the fantastic range of information available in this modern setting. Alongside guidebooks and free publications, a large plasma screen shows images of some of the city’s spectacular sights and sounds. The friendly staff provide in-depth information as well as an accommodation booking service for the city and beyond, plus ticket sales for a range of events including Cathedral concerts.”

Road Directions

Travelling on the A1(M) leave at junction 62, follow A690 into Durham City Centre, at 1st roundabout take second main exit (still A690) down the hill to the next roundabout. At that roundabout you have a choice of car parks. The Prince Bishop car park and Walkergate car park are the closest for a visit to the City Centre.
Durham City Tourist Information Centre is in Millennium Place, next to the Gala Theatre.

A Park and Ride Scheme operates in Durham City from Monday to Saturday 7am - 7pm.
There are 3 sites: one at junction 62 (Belmont), one on A177 (Howlands) and one on A691 (Sniperley) The cost for the Park and Ride bus is £1.70 per person.

By Bus / Coach
The Bus Station is in North Road, this is about 5 to 10 minutes walk from the Durham City Tourist Information Centre. Public transport information can be obtained from Traveline on

By Train

Durham Cathedral Bus Service - linking the Cathedral, Market Place, Railway Station, North Road (opposite the bus station), Car and Coach Parks, every 20 minutes. Only 50p for an all day ticket.
