The National Cycle Network trails that cross the region are an ideal way to appreciate our varied landscapes, and include the C2C: Britain’s most popular long-distance route, that passes through the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Hadrian’s Cycleway, a 174-mile coast-to-coast route taking in Hadrian’s Wall and numerous Roman forts and museums as well as stunning Border scenery.
