Alnwick Continental Market

Come and sample the delights of the Continent, as Alnwick Market Place welcomes the return of a continental market!

On Sunday 24th and Bank Holiday Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th August, Alnwick’s Market Place will be transformed into a bustling visiting market. Professional continental market traders from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Holland and Turkey wearing traditional costumes will be selling high quality products. New stalls this year include Belgian chocolates, porcelain from Limoges, Swiss Raclette, Polish crafts and glass from Transylvania. The more traditional stalls will also be returning: Italian olives, French and Swiss cheeses, fresh French bread, patisserie and croissant, Corsican saucisson, Spanish Paella and other fine edible treats.

You will also be able to choose from a wide range of products including French hand bags, Marseille soaps and lavender, children toys and Italian pashmina and cashmere sweaters! There really will be something for everyone!

Most of the products on sale will come from "the terroir" (the land) of the stall holder, where they are produced by small organisations such as family businesses, farms or small factories using traditional methods, maintaining a high standard of quality.
All of the traders will be decorating their stalls to represent the area of the country they have come from. The market really will therefore provide you with a true flavour of the continent...
