Calvert Trust Kielder

Opened in 1984 the Calvert Trust Kielder provides outdoor activities, care and relaxation for people with disabilities, their families and friends from our purpose built accessible centre and self-catering Scandinavian Lodges.
Set in its own 40 acre woodland site, close to the shores of Kielder Water, the Trust offers a range of indoor and outdoor activities, all of which are run to National Governing Bodies guidelines by highly trained and qualified staff who are skilled in working with all levels of ability.
We have ten spacious Scandinavian lodges set in the grounds of the Trust with wonderful views over the surrounding forest; they provide an ideal opportunity for those wishing a quiet countryside break. The lodges are 4 star rated with the English Tourist board and each has large lounge and dining room area, 3 large twin bedrooms, one room in each has an overhead ceiling hoist. In the kitchen there is a height adjustable work surface, plus washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, microwave, oven and hob, fridge and freezer. In the bathroom there is a level entry shower and shower seat, static manual bath hoist and colour contrasting grab rails for additional assistance. Each lodge has a patio area where you can relax, perhaps have a barbeque and sit back with a glass of wine. There is level parking for 2 cars outside each lodge.
We also offer a take away meal service from the centre, so if you don’t want to be a slave to the oven we offer pizzas, burgers, chips and other take-away foods. Alternatively you can buy into the home cooked meals on offer in our dining room and join in with our other centre guests for our meals.
Guests can visit the licensed bar or go for a dip in the hydrotherapy swimming pool. There is also the opportunity to join in on our outdoor activities sessions subject to availability and additional charges. These include: sailing, canoeing, climbing, abseiling, archery, swimming and much more. Instruction and equipment are provided but pre-booking is essential.
Able bodied guests are very welcome in our shoulder months from mid September to the end of March.
