North East England has such an exciting timetable of world-class events throughout the year that there's always something coming up that you just have to come over for - and our walking events are no exception.
The compact nature of the region combined with our wealth of attractions means that you really can do more in a day here, and organised events are a great way to ensure you make the most of every moment. This year sees a lively programme of festivals, tours and events with themes ranging from guided nature and wildlife walks to walking festivals and regular rambles.

Health Walk
Enjoy a short health walk around South Marine Park in South Shields with South Tyneside Council's team of park rangers.

Holy Island harbour
This walk covers the harbour area near the village at Holy Island. Birds, seals, navigation aids, fishing boats, ruined fort and priory are all packed into this area giving an insight into Holy Island past and present. The walk is moderate, just turn up in suitable footware. Unfortunately the walk is unsuitable for wheelchair users.

Blanchland through Time
Starting with a look at how local stone gives character to this attractive village, we'll then unravel some of the stories the rocks and landscape can tell us. Along the way we'll explore the remnants of a once prosperous lead and silver mining past.

Haltwhistle's 10th Walking Festival
The Haltwhistle Partnership is running the 10th Walking Festival. The walks are all led by experienced local leader's exploring the landscape and heritage around Haltwhistle. Walks are in the North Pennines AONB, Northumberland and around Hadrian's Wall.
