Shipley Lane Equestrian Centre has great facilities; whether you’re a child or adult, complete beginner to the most experienced rider, you’ll find us friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We have quality school horses and ponies or you can bring your own, enjoy a guided ride along the excellent bridleways or experienced riders can join a trail ride..
Riding Lessons, Training and Schooling
Lessons can be arranged with a qualified or trainee instructor, for individuals or groups (max 6). Or you can join in one of our regular sessions, for all levels of ability. Choose from 30 horses or ponies, licensed for hire by Alnwick District Council.
Our large outdoor floodlit arena (60m x 40m – the size of 3 dressage arenas) and the indoor school (40m x 20m) means we can carry out all kinds of activities including: Showjumping and Dressage, Cross Country Schooling takes place in our fields or on courses hired locally.
Shipley lane equestrian centre is a BHS approved riding school and livery yard and NVQ level 3 training centre. We hold courses for BHS and NVQ qualifications, as well as short courses such as Stable Management, Riding and Road Safety, Progressive Riding Tests based in our classroom/study area.
B&B for Horses
If you’re visiting for a days hunting or a local competition or just passing through on a long distance ride, we offer overnight care and accommodation for your horse. There is a camping area with use of shower and canteen facilities, if you want to stay for a night or two.
Riding Facilities
We’re very proud of our superb facilities and the range of activities at Shipley Lane Equestrian Centre. We have something to offer for all ages and abilities of horse and rider, and a wealth of experience to make your visit interesting, enjoyable and above all a fantastic riding experience. Set in over 250 acres of farmland in scenic Northumbrian Countryside, close to Alnwick and its famous Castle and Garden. Eglingham parish, with its background of the Cheviot Hills, has more bridleways than any other parish in Northumberland, with miles of footpaths there’s plenty for all the family even if you don’t ride.
