Cuba is today producing some of the world's finest contemporary and ballet dancers who are performing around the globe, setting standards of excellence both in terms of teachers and as performers. Leading the field is the unique and exciting Danza Contemporanea de Cuba, back at the Theatre Royal with three dynamic pieces including a world premiere choreographed by Itzik Galili to celebrate our 175th Birthday and the Cultural Olympiad.

World famous, but rarely seen outside of Cuba, this breathtaking company of 21 dancers brings the heat and passion of Cuba to the stage with an eclectic mix of contemporary dance fused with Afro Caribbean and Spanish styles.

Danza Contemporanea de Cuba is not just about technical brilliance, it’s about the Cuban way of life – sensual, mystical, emotional – and is from the heart.
The programme includes another chance to catch the incredible Olivier nominated Mambo 3XX1. It also features:

• A Theatre Royal World Premiere choreographed by Itzik Galili (in celebration of our 175 birthday and the Cultural Olympiad)
• Carmen?! by Kenneth Kvarnström, a cheeky, playful interpretation of Carmen with Bizet's stirring music, featuring 8 male dancers
• Mambo 3XXI by George Céspedes in collaboration with the dancers
