Massed Brass Bands

The Sage Gateshead continue the successful series of thrilling Massed Brass Band concerts with the united bands of Rothwell, Newton Grange (from Scotland) and the Egglescliffe School Band once again under the musical direction of Ray Farr.

Ninety top brass and percussion players will be on stage performing a programme of popular brass classics, virtuoso showpieces, entertaining features and requested show pieces. The programmes contain a mixture of entertainment music which enriches our lives, including some brilliant American music and some block-buster movie themes. There will also be tributes to the late, great Goff Richards.

Guest soloist, Richard Marshall (once described as 'the best cornet player ever'), will perform several virtuoso pieces from his repertory and Maestro Ray Farr will wave his magic baton and introduce the programmes.
