Welcome to the North East of England

Port of Tyne, North Shields, serves as the perfect cruise destination for passengers looking to embark on their journey or experience everything the North East has to offer.

Port of Tyne has the capability to handle vessels up to 300m with two purpose-built, lock-free cruise berths and no air draft restrictions. The main cruise facility, Northumbrian Quay, has recently undergone an impressive extension, more than doubling the size of the quay to allow for better access for coach transfers, enhancing the passenger experience, and ensuring pedestrian safety.

The location less than 10 miles from Newcastle and close proximity to the major road networks allows for a catchment area ranging from the North of England and Scotland to as far south as the Midlands, offering superb connectivity for both turnaround and transit calls. Port of Tyne’s award-winning International Passenger Terminal at North Shields has capacity for up to 2,000 passengers for a turnaround call.

As soon as you cruise into the Port of Tyne, you’re in the heart of the North of England, with dramatic coastlines, spectacular castles and cathedrals, several UNESCO world heritage sites, and some of Europe’s most picturesque cities within touching distance.

With a huge variety of world-famous visitor attractions and cultural sites within an hour’s journey of our International Passenger Terminal, the Port of Tyne makes an ideal stop-off or starting point for any cruise itinerary.
